Barely few days after the death of Waheed Bakare, Editor, Saturday New Telegraph, President Muaythai Federation of Nigeria (MFN) , Comrade Paul Egonu has commiserated with the family of the deceased, management staff of the New Telegraph Newspapers and the Guild of Editors over his death.
Comrade Egonu said he understood that the late editor was a diligent and committed journalist who was devoted to the journalism profession.
Egonu said: “I’m deeply saddened by the news of the death of Waheed Bakare, the Saturday Telegraph Editor. “I appreciate Mr. Bakare’s journalism quality, particularly his rise from being an Assistant Editor at Punch Newspapers to the zenith of the profession as Editor at Telegraph Newspaper.“
His career was Hallmarked by diligence, commitment, perseverance and professionalism.
“My thoughts are with his family and colleagues at Telegraph Newspaper at this moment. May Almighty God comfort his wife and children and give them strength to live with this demise.”
The New Telegraph Saturday Editor, Waheed Bakare who died recently after a brief illness has since been buried according to Islamic rites .Bakare was appointed New Telegraph’s Saturday editor in 2015.
He was a 1997 graduate of English Language from University of Ilorin.
In 2014, he obtained a Master of Art in English Language from the University of Lagos.
