Oyo State new Commissioner of Police, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu on Monday tasked officers and men of the command to respect the fundamental Human Rights of the people .
Speaking during the handing over ceremony held at state Police command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, CP Enwonwu emphasized that the dignity for the fundamental human right ” is a compulsory act for the police as contained in section 32 – 45 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended). “
CP Enwonwu stressed that there is the need for officers and men of the Oyo state Police command to ensure that the fundamental human right of citizens and resident of the state are at all times respected.
“Our officers should be law abiding and respect the human right of the people, go back to your various division and commands and ensure high level of security in your areas.Let’s join hands together and put a stop crimes and criminality in Oyo State,” he said.
According to the new Oyo CP the time has come for the Police officers in the state to go to their various divisions and “maintain high level of discipline, sit up and maintain good tempo of performance and give their utmost cooperation”, saying , anything short standard of duties will not be accommodated.”
Tasking the police officers and men in Oyo state to join hands and bring crime rate in Oyo state to the minimum rate”, .CP Enwonwu commended the outgoing CP. Shina Olukolu for the great job he has done,
Assuring the people of Oyo state of the state police command readiness to continue rendering quality service, CP Enwonwu called on the people of Oyo state to be law abiding and and to make available credible information to the police to aid them in performing their constitutional responsibilites, saying, ” only a crime free environment will enable masses to go out for their day-to-day activities, and woo foreign investors to invest their businesses in the state.
Speaking, the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Mr Shina Olukolu expressed his appriciation for the Police management team for their cooperation during his stay in Oyo state.
“Today is a milestone, I will always have connection with Oyo State, everything has been on smooth running but we are able to move ahead and succeed in pur operations. I am leaving Oyo State as a fulfilled Commissioner of Police, I want to enjoined the incoming Police Commissioner to allow an open door policies.”
