Nasarawa State University Keffi has received the approval of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the school of Public Health, University of Frieburg, Germany to establish an Institute of Molecular Diagonistics and Infectious Diseases.
This was revealed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed when he inspected facilities that will be housing the institute.
The Vice Chancellor who expressed his satisfaction with the level of preparedness by the university also informed that the project has already received the blessings and goodwill of the Visitor to the University and Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi A Sule.He said the state government has donated two brand new utility vehicles to the university to enable a successful take off of the institute. In the same vein, the former Visitor to the University and Senator representing Nasarawa West in the National Assembly, Senator Abdullahi Adamu also donated a utility vehicle to the university to further enhance activities at the institute.
The institute which is the first of its kind in North Central Nigeria will be funded by the World Health Organization with technical support from the University of Freiburg, Germany who will be actively involved in the setting up of the proposed Faculty of Medical Sciences which will be coming on stream before the next academic session.
