Residents of Ado-Ekiti,the Ekiti State capital and its adjoining communities were thrown into palpable confusion on Tuesday evening following a rumoured failing health condition of the traditional ruler of the capital city, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe.

In the last few days, the rumour has been on the rise about the failing health condition of the revered monarch, which has sparked up anxiety that all might not be well with the “Pelupelu Oba.”

The rumour even reached a frightening dimension in the early hours of Tuesday, when the rumour had portrayed a gory and lugubrious picture that the monarch health condition had deteriorated with no hope in sight about his survival.

Oba Adejugbe from Aladesanmi royal dynasty,is one of the 16 most prominent Obas in Ekiti history.

He is currently at a forefront of a legal battle against Governor Kayode Fayemi over the appointment of Alawe of Ilawe,Oba Ajibade Alabi as the Chairman of the traditional Council.

The contention about the appointment had been that Alawe was unfit to be so appointed having not regarded as Alademerindinlogun/Pelupelu Oba  recognised  by the State’s Chieftaincy Law.

But Oba Adejugbe in a video clip circulated on social media platforms on Tuesday denied the rumour.

The monarch urged the members of the public to discountenance the rumour, saying it has no scintilla of veracity on the premise that he is in good and sound health condition.

The traditional ruler in the video prayed for a quick recovery for Nigeria and global community from the debilitating   Covid-19 pandemic.

The monarch said in the video clip: ” I, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, Aladesanmi III wants to state that I am in good health condition.

“I heard about the rumour of my failing health condition, but it was not true.

“I want to assure our concerned people that the palace is in peace, Ado-Ekiti is in peace and the whole Ekiti is in peace.

“Let us all pray to God to heal our land from this Covid -19 pandemic, so that we will all have the opportunity to move round as we wish.

“I restate that I am in good health condition and the palace is hitch free and also in peace”,the monarch stated.
