Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has approved Eid prayers to be held in Mosques only just as he directed that this year’s Eid el Fitr prayers should be concluded within thirty minutes duration only.
A government statement by commissioner of Information, Mohammed Sani Idris, said women and children should not go to attend the Eid el Fitr prayers.
Similarly, all gatherings before, during the prayers and afterwards around all Mosques are to disperse and return home immediately according to the statement.
Conversely, the two raka’at prayers and all activities at Mosques should be rounded up within thirty minutes while the social distancing rule should be followed during the prayers the statement further explained.
The state government also directed that water for washing hands and sanitizers should be made available at such Mosques where the Eid prayers are to hold.
Traditional events such as durbar, horse riding and movements in motorcades during festive period of the Eid el Fitr have been banned and any horse rider caught for defeating would be arrested and his horse confiscated.
The measures according to the government statement are in furtherance of curbing the spread of the novel Covid-19 virus in the state.
No fewer than twenty two persons have been confirmed to be Infected with the virus which has so far claimed the life of one person.
Five persons have so far been discharged while fourteen persons were currently on admission at the Minna General Hospital receiving treatment.
One person who was on admission with the Coronavirus had absconded and fled from the state.
