NCDC Releases Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: New Cases 193, Total 5,162, Corrects Error

Nigeria has recorded 193 new cases of Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said.

NCDC gave a breakdown of the new cases as they occurred in the States of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja    as follows: Lagos 58, Kano 46, Jigawa 35, Yobe 12, FCT Abuja 9, Ogun 7, Plateau 5, Gombe 5, Imo 4, Edo 3, Kwara 3, Borno 3, Bauchi 1, Nasarawa 1 and Ondo 1.

According to the Nigerian disease control agency on Twitter, as of 11.59 p.m. on Thursday, 14th May 2020, a total of 5,162 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Nigeria, 1,180 were discharged and 167 died.

NCDC also corrected data error. It said: “Two cases reported yesterday from Kaduna were repeat tests. Therefore, Kaduna has a total of 114 confirmed cases.”
It apologized for the error, saying it remains  “committed to ensuring the release of accurate and reliable data.”
