No Free Power Supply From FG, Kano Electric Says, Warns Consumers Against Power Theft



Kano Electric Distribution Company (KEDCO) has clarified that there is no plan by the Federal Government of Nigeria to supply power free for two months as being rumoured by the general public, adding that if there are such plans, the company would issue a statement informing its customers about the development.

In separate statements signed by the KEDCO head of corporate communications, Malam Ibrahim Sani Shawai and made available to New Nigerian in Kano, the company disclosed that “as at now, there is no any plan or negotiation between the Federal governyment of Nigeria and  KEDCO in the supply of free and constant power to customers at Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states as exagrated by the public”.

Similarly, Kano Electric issued a strong warning to customers that consume power by the meter bypass which is an illegal act in accordance with the establishment of the company.

The statement advised its teaming customers to remain focused in settling their bills in order to  enable the company to supply constant power  to Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states respectively.
