A youth group popularly known as Youth For Better Nigeria has called on the wealthy citizens, organisations and other well meaning corporate bodies to offer their helping hands to the people living around them especially at present when the masses are locked down under the stay at home directive.
The Secretary-General of the association, Malam Dan Bala Sani made the call in a statement signed and issued to New Nigerian by the group, adding that the stay at home order halted people from going out in search of food to their families, while governments failed to assist the needy which makes life difficult to average Nigerians.
The statement further announced that it was time for the wealthy persons, organisations and corporate bodies to bring something to the needy because the CoronaVirus pandemic has really turned everything down, while the governments are not even thinking of assisting people, despite the huge amount of donations being received from some wealthy individuals.
“Instead of the wealthy people to be donating money into government’s coffers, they should distribute it themselves to the needy close to their residents if they really want to help for God’s sake, but the time is not late, they can also assist people with cash and food items at this crucial time of lockdown orders due to control the spread of CoronaVirus pandemic killer disease”.
In conclusion, the youth group prayed for the total eradication of the COVID-19, and commended the federal government for its cash transfer policy to assist the poor, and thanked the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for his humane gesture to his people at this period.
They called on other governors to emulate the gesture.
