Consequent upon failure to heed the warning against gathering of above 25 people, the Lagos State Government has sealed the Central Mosque, Agege Hausa Market.
An aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, Mr. Olusegun Fafore made the disclosure in a statement made available to journalists.
Accorfing to Fafore, the mosque was shut because it violated the state government order on social gathering which must not exceed 25 people at any single gathering.
It would be that the Hausa Central Mosque, located at Moshalasi Alhaja bus stop, Agege was filled to the brim with worshippers of over 300 on the night of Tuesday, 31 March, 2020 when the Taskforce on enforcing the social gathering order came calling.
Some worshippers even reportedly attacked the officials, when they were trying to explain the negative effect of the gathering on their heath.
Fafore stressed that closing down the mosque has nothing to do with the attack, rather with the violation of the state government’s order.
