Legendary Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo has called on the Nigeria Customs Service to distribute all edible items seized to the needy .

The actor who is fondly called RMD aired his opinion on where to get food for poor Nigerians during the lockdown across the country.

Despite the covid19 pandemic ,the service has continued to make massive seizures of food items including rice, vegetable oil, soap, frozen chicken etc.

The actor stated that the seized foods should be donated to poor Nigerians who do not have the means to feed themselves during this lockdown across the country.

The Delta born thespian said that the lockdown period would be a good time for the government to release seized foods by the Nigerian customs to poor people.

According to him, food is a major part of the lockdown and the rice, tomato, vegetable oil and other foodstuffs in the possession of customs can go a long way to helping people.

He noted that this is the time for customs to tell Nigerians how much relief they can bring to the people.

RMD said that “The government should ask Nigerian customs about the seized foods in their possession”

Some of the agencies of government operating from the maritime industry have donated whooping sums of monies to curb the spread of covid19 but the service is yet to announce any form of support since the beginning of Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Some of the agencies that have dole out cash and other relief items include; NIMASA N50 million,NPA Abuja Hotel, Nigerian Shippers Council, free buses for port operators and N5m, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA)-N10 to mention etc
