Katsina State Government has realized over 150 million Naira as donations to check the spread of Coronavirus (COVID -19) pandemic in the state with the state based Business Mogul and Chairman of MaxAir, Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal donating one hundred (100) million Naira.
Meanwhile, based on experts advice, the state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has directed all workers in the state and local government councils to continue to remain at home until further notice.
A statement by Head of the Civil Service of the state, Alhaji Idris Usman Tune said the decision was in furtherance to the directives earlier given by Governor Masari to all workers in the state to stay at home on Friday March 27, 2020 as part of measures to contain the spread of the COVID -19.
Alhaji Idris Usman Tune said workers on emergency and essential services are exempted from the sit at home order.
“Workers are, moreover, urged to adopt the habit of washing their hands intermittently, ensure use of sanitizers and uphold the social distancing practice/policy,”
Alhaji Idris Usman Tune emphasized. On the endowment funds, the state Deputy Governor, Architect Mannir Yakubu told journalists that, United Bank of Africa (UBA) donated 28.5 million Naira, a business mogul, Alhaji Mannir Abukur 10 million Naira, an anonymous donor 10 million Naira and Chairman Continental Computers Katsina, Alhaji Salisu Mamman donated the sum of five million Naira respectively.
The Katsina state Deputy Governor, Architect Mannir Yakubu who is also serving as Chairman of the state Emergency Response Committee against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic said members of the State Executive Council and 34 members of the state House of Assembly have unanimously agreed to donate 50% of their March 2020 Salaries against the spread of the Coronavirus.
Architect Mannir Yakubu explained that, the state government has already equipped the two isolation centers located at the General Hospital Katsina and Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital in Batagarawa Local Government Area of the state.
