Covid-19: Yobe Government Closes Borders

Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed closure of the state borders from midnight of Tuesday 31st March 2020 to guard against the importation of the dreaded CoronaVirus into the state.

The Governor said, this was necessary following the spike in spread of the Virus in the Country.

Governor Buni expressed gratitude to Allah for sparing the state and its people since the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic and the zero status of the state.

According to the Governor, in spite of the state’s zero status, government had taken adequate measures by establishing isolation centers with equipment and constituting committee on Corona virus under the Chairmanship of the state Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana.

He explained that, a rapid response team was also established to closely monitor any suspicious case as we remain grateful that we have no single case up to this movement.

Further more Governor Buni urged to adhere to medical advises, avoid over crowded gatherings and intensity hand washing.

The statement issued and signed by the Director General Press Affairs and media Mamman Muhammad indicates that, the Governor also appealed to the citizens to cooperate with government and all relevant agencies for a collective approach to the fight against the pandemic.

The Governor equally called on the citizens to be calm and steadfast in prayers to seek divine intervention to save the state as well as the country as a whole.
