Lagos NUJ Loses Ex Council Boss



The Lagos Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced the death of a one time chairman of the Council, Pa Dele Odebiyi.
According to a statement by the chairman of the Council, Dr. Quasim Akinreti, the sad event occurred at the Ikorodu General Hospital on Saturday March 28, 2020 at about noon.
An active member of the Union, the late former Council chairman was a senior editorial staff of the Daily Times Newspaper in the 90s where he retired and became a lecturer at the prestigious Times Journalism Institute.
Akinreti, in the release, described Odebiyi as a dedicated, selfless, committed Union leader, whose wisdom and fatherly advice would greatly be missed.
The statement reads, ” This is to inform you about the death of  Baba Dele Odebiyi.
The sad event took place few hours ago at the  Ikorodu General Hospital, Ikorodu.
“Baba Odebiyi as he is  fondly called by members, was a former Chairman of Lagos NUJ. Until his death  Baba Odebiyi  has been a dedicated, selfless, committed Union leader!
“The Union will greatly miss his wisdom and fatherly advice. Burial arrangements will be announced by the family”.
