The PDP Spokesman who made the donation under his foundation, Ini Ememobong Foundation, described journalists as indispensable stakeholders in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, journalists need to stay alive to help government sensitise and educate Nigerians on the killer virus particularly its mode of transmission, and how to prevent infection.
He had earlier carried out his sentisization/awareness campaign on Coronavirus to some communities and markets in Ibiono Ibom local government area of the state.
“My appeal is that you stay safe during this period as you go about your duties. Please be conscious of your safety
“Remember that in our tradition it is customary for people to respect others by holding water in a bowl for them to wash their hands.
“If you wash your hands with stagnant water you are simply taking back what you had washed out into the water.
“You should your hands with flowing water even if poured from a cup and you use soap”, Ememobong said.
Responding, the chairman of the Correspondents’ chapel, Comrade Idongesit Ashameri commended him for thinking about the safety of journalists whom he noted have been in the forefront of the fight against the disease which has recently killed thousands of people in the world.
She called on the others in the state to emulate Comrade Ememobong’s gesture in sensitising people on how to prevent the spread of the virus and safe lives.
