Following the approval of reduction in pump pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS) from 145 Naira to N125 by the Federal Government, only two filling stations have complied with the directives in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
New Nigerian Newspapers visited some filling stations in Damaturu and observed that only two filling stations complied with the directives.
On Wednesday in its Federal Executive meeting, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the downward review of the pump price of the premium motor spirit (PMS) from 145 Naira per litre to 125, and assured that the premium motor spirit pump price reduction would also be extended to other petroleum products.
The state Minister for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva explained that, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the reduction so that Nigerians can benefit from a direct effect of crash in global oil prices.
Against this development, New Nigerian Newspapers visited some filling stations in Damaturu to see the level of compliance by the marketers of the products but only NNPC Mega station and Kime Filling stations complied with the directives.
Other filling stations such as Forte Oil, Hesan Standard Vision, Chula are selling at the old price of 145 Naira.
Some motorists who spoke to New Nigerian Newspapers such as Shettima Lawan, Umar Muhammad and Bukar Mustapha commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the effort and called on marketers to quickly comply with the directives.
According to them, the reduction of the pump price would go a long way to ease the livelihood of the common man.
