Determined to change the fortunes of the common man in the country, Phairah Agro Ventures in collaboration with Bank of Agriculture has commencedced it empowerment packages to start up Agricultural businesses among women and youth in Kaduna state.
Its coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulkarim said the gesture was a collaborative effort with the Bank of Agriculture to ameliorate the suffering of many families in the country.
He emphasized that the beneficiaries were going to receive training on poultry farming, Aquaculture, animal husbandry among others and would be given microcredit ranging between Fifty to two hundred and fifty thousand naira without collateral.
According to Muhammed Abdulkarim, the programme was officially launched in Kaduna with the presentation of chicks, one kilogram of feeds and drugs which would also be implemented in the 36 states of the country.
Mr. Abdulkarim said all the beneficiaries would have to undergo training on their chosen businesses before being considered for the various programmes.
Two of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Amina Garba and Mohammed Ndayabo expressed their gratitude and described the iniiative as an opportunity to achieve poverty reduction for the entire country.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Phairah Agro Ventures, Engr. Hassan Adamu Ibrahim explained that it is part of Phairah Agro Ventures’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in collaboration with Bank of Agriculture (BOA), packaged an empowerment programmes targeted at low income families across the country through the provision of necessary training and provision of starter packs.
These starter packs, he added, include chicks, feeds and drugs to target beneficiaries and facilitation of access to finance for the trained beneficiaries through the Bank.
He said Phairah Agro Ventures is an agricultural enterprises incorporated under the Companies and Allied Matter Act with vast experience in the areas of livestock production, training and technical capacity building, input supply that has impacted over 20,000 small holder farmers since 2012.
He explained, “We have established a sustainable partnership and relationship with various state governments, local governments, politicians, community leaders and industry leaders in input supply such as chicks, drugs, feeds and equipment.
“This give us a competitive edge over other actors in the industry and has attracted a lot of interventions and strategic alliances from different partners in the last 8 years.”
He explained that Phairah Agro Ventures shall deliver comprehensive training to the selected beneficiaries in the areas of poultry farm management practices before deployment of the empowerment packs through the Bank.
Engr. Hassan added that the Agro Ventures shall organize successful beneficiaries into clusters numbering 50 persons per cluster according to their Senatorial District and distributed across the Bank’s branches in all the states of the Federation for easy access of the empowerment packs.
The Phairah Agro Ventures shall be responsible for the transportation and distribution of the empowerment packs across all the implementing branch offices of the Bank nationwide and designated locations in each state and local government areas.
