At least, two cars have been recovered from a notorious car snatcher arrested in Lagos by police operatves.
Identified as Yusuf Akinradewo, 33, of no fixed address, the suspect was said to have been arrested while selling.a stolen Mitsubishi Montero Jeep marked GGE 620 AQ to one Wasiu Ogunsola at Omolojuwo Street, Dalemo, Sango-ota on 8th February,2020 at about 3.00pm.
Our correspondent learnt that the accused was apprehended by detectives attached to Oke-Odo Division following an alarm by the supposed buyer, when Wasiu abandoned the car and ran away on the demand for the particulars of the vehicle.
In the course of investigation, it was gathered that vehicle, a Toyota Camry saloon car, with registration number AGL 480 EC belonging to one Alhaji Nurudeen Rasaki , of Isiaka Adekoya street Igbogbo, Ikorodu Lagos State, was recovered from him.
The police public relations officer DSP Bala Elkana confirmed the arrest in a release on Sunday.
He stated that the owners of the vehicles have been contacted and that they have confirmed the they were stolen.
Elkana added that the vehicles have been released to the owners on bond.
His words ” On 08/2/2020 at about 1500hrs, on the strength of information and credible intelligence, Police operatives from Oke Odo Police Station arrested a notorious car snatching suspect, Yusuf Akinradewo ‘m’ 33 years old.
The suspect took one Mitsubishi Montero Jeep with registration number GGE 620 AQ to one Wasiu Ogunsola ‘m’ Omolojuwo street, Dalemo, Sango-ota Ogun state to buy.
When the buyer demanded for the original particulars of the vehicle, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran away.
Police detectives eventually arrested the suspect and recovered another stolen vehicle from him, a Toyota Camry saloon car with registration number AGL 480 EC belonging to one Alhaji Nurudeen Rasaki ‘m’ of Isiaka Adekoya street Igbogbo, Ikorodu Lagos State.
The owners of the stolen vehicles were contacted and they confirmed that the vehicles were stolen from Ikorodu.
The suspect will be charged to Court, while the two recovered vehicles will be handed over to the owners on bond”.
