Nigerians have been urged to continue to support the Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle’s initiatives which has brought an end to banditry and cattle rustling in the state.
The appeal was made on Thursday in Gusau by the national Chairman, Justice, Peace and Pacific Resolutions Forum, Professor Kabiru Jabaka at a stakeholders meeting organized by the forum.
Jabaka said with the current prevailing peace and security being enjoyed in the state which was brought about by the dialogue initiative of governor Matawalle, there is the need for all patriotic citizens of the state who wants development in the state to support the governor.
“Matawalle brought an end to bandits attacks, cattle rustling, kidnapping and all other forms of criminality within the first three months due to his commitments and love for Zamfara state therefore the need for right thinking person or group of persons regardless of political differences to support the governor for the development of our state,” he said.
Jabaka also said the forum will soon meet President Muhammadu Buhari to wade into the feud between Matawalle and former governor Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar to ease the political tension in the state which he said portends danger for the state at this crucial time when it is just coming out of several years of banditry activities that led to the death of many people and property worth billions destroyed.
He described Yari’s verbal attacks on Matawalle as mere envy hence the plan to meet President Buhari to save the save from failing back to the dark days.
“What the former governor is doing is not opposition but being envy of Matawalle’s achievements. Yari is envious because he has been pushed out of power, as such, we will meet Buhari and ask him to intervene and stop Yari and his co travellers from derailing the ongoing progress in Zamfara state,” he said.
Jabaka said Matawalle’s emergence was a divine intervention following the myriads of prayers to Allah to save the state from the clutches of criminals.
“Former governor Ysri is only being sadistic against the will of God,” he said.
