The Chairman, Vemard Africa FC, Nanka, Mr Chidi Okonkwo, has announced that sixty per cent of his players will be reserved for talented players of Anambra State decent.
He explained that the goal was targeted at discovering, nurturing and exposing budding football talents from the state to both national and international opportunities.
Okonkwo who addressed journalists at Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state which is the base of the club said that the club would feature in the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League season.
According to him, Vernard FC has strong affiliations with Athletico Madrid of Spain, Monaco and Lille.
He said, “It is our common project and I want to say that 60 per cent of the space will be filled by talented Anambra footballers.
“We have record of success in Enugu since our four years of existence and it is our target to surpass those records here in Anambra.”
Okonkwo further said that the four year club will be formally which had Enugu as its original base will be officially unveiled in a novelty match with Enyimba International FC of Aba at NEROS Stadium Nanka on Friday February 14.
The event would be graced by former Super Eagles players, Taribo West and Victor Ikpeba, among other international soccer stars and affiliates of the club, partners and fans.
Mr Austin Chinwendu who is the coach of the club said selection of players for the club would be based on merit adding that Vermard club has come to be.
