Two notorious armed robbers that specialise in snatching and stealing vehicles at places of worship and three others have been nabbed by police operatives in Lagos.
The three others, according to report are members of a traffic robbery syndicate that specialises in dispossessing unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables while held up in traffic.
Identified as Bamidele Adebayo and Hakeem Taofik, the suspected church robbers were alleged to have stolen a Toyota Corolla salon car at a church in Shagari Estate area of Ipaja in Lagos and disappeared into thin air at about 1.00pm on 19th January, 2020.
Following intelligence report, our correspondent gathered that the bandits were swiftly arrested same day by detectives attached to Ipaja Division at Ijagba village in Sango Ota area of Ogun State at about 4.00 pm while dispossessing the car.
In a related development, the suspected traffic robbers were said to have been apprehended by anti traffic patrol operatives operating on motorbike at Ipaja area of the state.
The suspects, named Hassan Lekan, 19, Owolabi Seyi, 18, and Ismailia Ibrahim, 19, were said to be specialists in snatching hand bags, phones and money from unsuspecting members of the public.
Our correspondent gathered that they were arrested at about 5.30am on 19th January, 2020 following a sustained monitoring by the eagle-eyed cops.
The command’s police public relations officer DSP Bala Elkana confirmed the arrest of all the suspects in a release made available to journalists on Sunday.
Elkana stated that the traffic robbers mostly operate between 04:00am and 07:00am.
He disclosed that several Items, which include phones and bags, snatched from three different victims were recovered from them.
The police spokesperson informed that all the suspects have charged to Court.
