National Deputy President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, on Wednesday asked the Southwest governors to put in place proper legal framework for the smooth running of Operation Amatekun.
Bishop Wale Oke who is the Presiding Bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Ibadan stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
The PFN National Deputy President maintained that doing this became imperative to avoid the booby traps of antagonists of the Amatekun initiative
“Amalekun initiative, is a noble idea and we must commend the proponents being the South West governors,. However, it should be properly legalised by making sure Southwest Houses of Assembly, give it the needed legal teeth. This will make nonsense of any primordial sentiment and antagonism” he said .
Bishop Wale Oke while expressing his support for Operation Amotekun lauded the South west governors for their foresight at ensuring the protection of lives and property of people of the region allayed the fears being entertained in some quarters concerning the establishment of Amatekun security outfit in South West.
He pointed out that the establishment of Operation Amotekun was in tandem with the community policing philosophy of the Federal Government.
Bishop Wale Oke stressed that Operation Amotekun would complement the efforts of other security agencies in the country to ensure the protection lives and property,”.
The Presiding Bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Ibadan then charged Nigerians to endeavour to put the country on the path of self-discovery and recovery, charging them to hold their grounds by making it the way they want to see it work.
Bishop Wale- Oke specifically praised Governor Seyi Makinde for working assiduously towards the sustenance of peace across the state, adding that without peace, nothing meaningful could be achieved
