No Going Back On Payment Of N30,000 National Minimum Wage Says, Yobe Perm Sec

The Yobe State Ministry of Finance and Economic Development is working hard towards the payment of thirty thousand Naira new national minimum wage in from January as directed by the state Governor, Mai Mala Buni on Thursday at the swearing-in ceremony of the Secretary to the state government and eight permanent secretaries at the Banquet Hall of Government House Damaturu.

This was disclosed to New Nigerian Newspapers by the Permanent secretary of the ministry Alhaji Muhammad Abatcha Gaidam.

hon Thursday at the swearing-in ceremony of the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali and eight permanent secretaries, Governor Mai Mala Buni had made a pronouncement that put smiles in the faces of civil servants in the state on the payment of thirty thousand Naira new minimum wage in January 2020.

Against this development, New Nigerian Newspapers visited the state Ministry of Finance and spoke with the Permanent Secretary on the level of preparedness by the ministry on the payment of the national minimum wage.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary said, ” we are working hard towards payment of the thirty thousand Naira minimum wage,” adding that with the caliber of staff and ICT facilities on ground on or before end of January, they would ensure that every civil servant in the state receives the new salary as announced by the state Governor Mai Mala Buni.

The permanent secretary explained that, ” payment of the thirty thousand naira minimum wage in January is an executive order, therefore right from the time of the pronouncement by the Governor, we embarked on the exercise process to justify the confidence reposed on us by the government.”

During the visit by the New Nigerian Newspapers, the Permanent Secretary and management staff of the ministry were busy working to ensure that the payment takes place.
