Election of All Farmers Association of Nigerian (AFAN) Kaduna State Executives has been postponed.
The postponement arises from disagreements between the two Chairmanship candidates, the incumbent, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu and Alhaji Kabiru Salihu, chairman Maize Farmers Association (MAN) Kaduna State on the election process.
Speaking to Journalists shortly after the electoral committee announced the postponement at the National Livestock Mando Kaduna, the Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Salisu Muktar said the postponement is in order.
He said, only duly registered AFAN members are eligible to contest or be voted for, but for Kaduna State, about 95 we cent of the members don’t have membership cards.
Comrade Salisu Mukhtar advised all members who don’t have identity cards to get one, that only the state chairman is allowed to give out forms and identify cards which cost N1000 only.
On the dissolution of Kaduna State Executives announced by a member of the electoral committee, the National Assistant Publicity Secretary said it is only the NEC that has the mandate to dissolve any branch and Comrade Nuhu Aminu remains the Chairman Kaduna State AFAN.
Earlier, a member of the electoral committee, Abdulrasheed Magaji Rimin Gado said since the election could not hold, the state exco stands dissolved and a caretaker will be sent from Abuja to oversee the affairs of AFAN Kaduna State.
Reacting to the postponement of the election, the Chairman Kaduna State AFAN, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu urged his supporters to remain calm and wait for the national secretariat’s next line of action.
Also, a chairmanship candidate, Alhaji Kabiru Salihu urged his supporters to remain calm and wait for the date the election will hold.
