Orphanage: MTN Foundation Donates Food Items, detergent, To Kaduna Gov’t



The MTN Foundation on Tuesday January 14, 2020, donated food items and beverages to the Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services Orphanage Home, Magajin Gari, in Kaduna.

Presenting the items to the orphanage, the Director of the foundation, Mrs Pamela Sadauki  said the purpose of their visit was to show love on behalf of the foundation.

According to her, every year, the MTN foundation picks some of the approved orphanages across Nigeria to make donations.

She added that the foundation had an initiative called ‘orphanage initiative’ where the foundation buy food and other items to be distributed across  the homes.

The director noted that the foundation, usually donated some cash, depending on how many children the orphanage has.

“Before making any donations, the foundation sends consultants who usually go round to cheek the number of children at the particular orphanage homes its intend to visit, in order to ensure such donations are not under or over estimated,” she said.

She added that the foundation offers its support in three key areas which includes empowerment, health and education.

The Commissioner, Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba lauded the foundation for their gesture and support.

“We want to appreciate and thank you for the good gestures and to assure you that the items donated would be used judiciously for the children,” she said.

According to her, the ministry has started givng out children for adoption to families that seek them.

The Commissioner  however, called on other organisations to emulate the foundation as part of their corporate social responsibilities.

The items donated include 12 cartons of beverages, 12 cartons of washing detergent, 12 bags of rice among others.
