The police in Lagos have arrested and arraigned 14 drivers for violating traffic rule.
At least 16 vehicles were also impounded for same offence during an operation that took place on Wednesday.
The violators were said to have immediately been arraigned before a mobile court.
The police public relations officer DSP Bala Elkana confirmed the arrest in a release made available to journalists on Friday.
It reads, ” On 18th December, 2019, Lagos State Police Command arraigned 14 Traffic Offenders in Mobile Court for various traffic offences.
The Offenders are: Oscar Bright King, Ibitoye Olumide, Nicholas Elaeeka , Solomon Anuka, Emmanuel Tochukwu, Onyeka Frank, Tunde Abubakar, Alex Otabor, Moruf Kareem, Akala Gani, Taiwo Bolade, Okechukwu Ebano Uzodu and Tijiani Richard.
The vehicles impounded include: 4 Volkswagen commercial Buses, Hyundai Santage KTU 332 BH, Toyota Sienna Bus YAB31PP, Honda Accord BDG492EV, Nissan Bus KTU 832XR, 2 Toyota Hiace Buses AKD16XT, Mazda 6 car LSD 729FW, Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Camry, Volvo car, Lexus Car KSF 10 Fu, and Mini Commercial Bus EKY 170XV.
The clamp down on traffic laws violators, especially Vehicles driving against traffic (one way) code named ‘Traffic must flow in Lagos ‘ will be sustained until sanity is restored to our roads.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu enjoined motorists to obey traffic laws at all times”.
