A Commissioner designate in Cross River State, Mrs. Stella Odey, has urged women and Cross Riverians in the state to key into Governor Ben Ayade’s agricultural revolution programme.
It would be recalled that the state is into Rice Seedlings factory and Rice Mill, Cocoa Processing factory, Poultry farms, Maize Farms and others.
Odey who is one of the 39 persons the governor nominated for position of Commissioner, said “I will encourage the women to go into agriculture like rice farming, poultry farms, maize and others to compliment the governor’s effort” .
When she was Commissioner for Woman Affairs, Odey used a strong network which is the Cross River Women Emancipation Initiative (CROWE) to motivate over 2, 000 women into agriculture.
On this second coming, she said, “one of her key agenda “is to emancipate the women to empower them through agriculture so as to key into the governor’s agriculture revolution programme .
” The strategy is to partner with some relevant organisations in Nigeria and outside Nigeria to key into the governor’s vision of agricultural revolution and Industrialization”.
Meanwhile the state governor has submitted the 39 names of Commissioners designate to the State House of Assembly for screening.
He promised that list of other appointees in position of Special Advisers and Special Assistants will soon be made public.
