Clampdown On Drug Dealers: Katsina Govt Vows Partnership With NDLEA

Governor Masari

Katsina State Government will continue to  partner with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)  to clampdown drug dealers and abusers in the State, Secretary to the Government of the state, Dr Mustapha Inuwa has said.

Dr Muhammad Inuwa said the Masari’s  administration has been  supporting all the security agencies including the NDLEA in order to make Katsina State crime free.

Dr Inuwa who was speaking while receiving the new Commander of the agency, Mr Sule Mummodu in his office recalled that in 2015, Katsina was rated as leading gateway of illicit drugs but few months after Governor Aminu Bello Masari took over the situation was controlled.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua said Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa emphasized that, because of the stringent measures taken by Governor Masari and the relentless efforts of the former NDLEA boss in the state, Hajia Maryam Gambo Sani, even those drug dealers that were considered as untouchable had been arrested and now serving various jail terms.

According to him, that was part of the secret behind the success of the current  administration in curtailing the menace of youth bandits popularly known as Kauraye in the state.

Dr Muhammad Inuwa therefore, urged the new Commander, Mr Sule Mummodu to bring his vast experience to sustain the tempo.

In his remarks, Mr Sule Mummodu said he was in the Secretary to the Government’s office to formally announce his deployment from Anambra State to take charge of the Katsina State Command.

Mr Mummodu narrated series of challenges he met in the office and solicited for the State Government’s intervention.
