Five Prisoners Electrocuted, 10 Others Injured In Ikoyi Prison

At least five persons have reportedly been electrocuted at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre in Lagos.
Ten others were said to have also sustained varying degrees of injury in the incident which occurred on Monday. 

Our correspondent gathered that the electrocution was caused by a naked electric cable
It could not be ascertained as at press time how the incident actually happened at the centre formerly known as Ikoyi Medium Prisons, but report said it occurred in the morning.
Survivors, according to reliable source, are battling for their lives in an undisclosed hospital.
Reacting to the incident, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola through the Press Officer, Ministry of Interior, Jane Osuji said: “ The attention of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (@raufaregbesola) has been drawn to an electrocution incidence at the Ikoyi Medium Security Prison in Lagos.

“The minister  has directed a quick investigation into the root cause and the ministry will in the next few hours share a comprehensive update on the incidence.
“While we commiserate with the victims of the incidence, the minister has ordered immediate medical attention for those affected.”
