The paramount ruler and prescribed authority of Igbara-Oke kingdom, Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakami Agbede has expressed concerns over the recent attack on banks which has led to the closure of commercial banking activities in neighbouring towns in parts of Ondo and Ekiti states.
A statement which was issued by the Chief Press Secretary to His Royal Majesty, Mr. Ayodeji Owolabi disclosed that steps taken so far to address the insecurity challenges, is collaborative efforts with the Mobile Police and the Army to provide enough security to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the people.
According to the statement, the Olowa of Igbara-Oke has therefore allayed the fear of the people over the purported closure of the Wema bank by the management, saying, regular patrol and surveillance will be mounted by the combined team of the Mobile Police and Armed Solders within Igbara-Oke and the bank’s environment.
The statement reads,”His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede has approached the Brigade Commander of 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Brig. Gen. Abubakar and Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Undie Adie to help provide additional security for the serene town”.
While recalling that the recent attacks on some banks has resulted in the closure of banks in Ilawe, Igbara-Odo, Oye and some other affected towns, he said, he would not want such to happen to Wema bank in Igbara-Oke.
He is therefore pleased to inform the good people of Igbara-Oke kingdom that steps taken so far has yielded positive result with the immediate deployment of men of the Mobile Police Force and Armed Solders on Mobile patrol of the Bank, to forestall the closure of Wema Bank in Igbara-Oke, as the Management of the bank has threatened to close it due to the attacks.
The statement further disclosed that the people of Igbara-Oke has also shown their readiness to cooperate by providing the most needed logistics to sustain the services of the combined team of the security operation while it last.
The Ilufemiloye, Olowa of Igbara-Oke has therefore enjoined all residents within the kingdom to go about their daily activities without any fear.
