The new Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu on Monday officially assumed office, assuring residents that he will fight crime to a standstill.
He expressed optimism that with the support of the State Government, cooperation of members of the public, Lagosians will go to bed, sleep and snore.”
Odumosu, who pledged robust community policing strategy against crimes said, “I will fight crime to a standstill”.
The new Lagos boss received the Handing Over note at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja from his predecessor Zubairu Muazu who has been promoted an Assistant Inspector General of Police and deployed to the Force Headquater as AIG Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).
At a brief handing over ceremony, held at about 9.00am,Muazu handed over to CP Odumosu after they both appended their signatures on copies of the handing over note.
While speaking with newsmen, CP Odumosu sought for the support of all in the state.
He said, “Together we can make Lagos State safe for every law abiding citizen.
He sought for the support of all and sundry to make Lagos State safe.
The police boss said his activities will be hinged on community policing whereby everybody will participate.
He promised that his administration will keep policemen on their toes in order to protect fundamental human rights of every citizen of this state. He stressed, “When I say citizens, only law abiding citizens.
“I want to assure members of the public that by coming on the saddle, I will improve on the successes already achieved by my outgoing AIG.
He thanked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu for considering him worthy to steer the affairs of the state in crime controlling.“So we are here to fight crime and crime we shall fight to a standstill.”
