The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has commended the Nawar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (NUDS) for its efforts at sustaining religion and standard of education in the State, calling for more supports to improve the sector.

Prince Abiodun gave the commendation at the 80th anniversary celebration and presentation of merit and posthumous awards to deserving individuals by the Society, held at the National Central Mosque, Oke -Ijeun, Abeokuta.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Governor noted that education was an important aspect of his administration, hence the need to commend the efforts of the Society for its various laudable contributions in the sector for the past 80 years.

“Since we assumed office in the last six months, our government had worked tirelessly to bring education sector back to its pride of place. We have gone round schools and one of the schools visited was Nawar-Ud-Deen Primary School. Efforts are on-going to improve the physical structures of the schools, welfare of the teachers, conditions of service and the curriculum of the schools’’, he noted.

He called on the Society, Non-Governmental Organisations, Alumni associations, as well as individuals to join hands with government to make the State number one in the education sector in Nigeria.

In his goodwill message, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo said NUDS had blazed the trail in educational development through provision of qualitative education, where many dignitaries in the country were beneficiaries of such gesture.

Kabiyesi therefore admonished the society to complement government’s efforts by putting in place Universities and Teaching Hospitals.

Also speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Dr. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar called on influential Muslims to support the society in establishing tertiary institutions across the country, enjoining it to live up to its objectives.

Earlier in his welcome address, the National President, NUDS, Alhaji Rasheed Yussuff, pointed out that the society came into existence in November, 1939, with  the intention to create a beaming light of knowledge for the people, charging its members to be socially and economically positioned for the new challenges and opportunities in the Society
