Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle has established a new Ministry of Security and Home Affairs and brought down the number of ministries in the state to 16 from the earlier 24 which he inherited.
Matawalle said all the actions were parts of the recommendations of the Committee for the White paper which completed its assignment and submitted a report covering the various issues raised by the Restructuring Committee.
The governor added that the Committee made far reaching decisions and recommendations which include, restructuring of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies and the state government studied the recommendations and accepted them with modifications.
“I would like to stress that the restructuring exercise is done in good faith, taking into consideration the best interest of our people and the state”, he said.
Matawalle said the decisions made are no doubt painful, but necessary to propel the civil service to higher productivity and responsiveness to the development needs of the people.
“My utmost desire as a leader is to do my best to address the various development challenges confronting our state, and reposition the state to take its rightful position in the comity of the states of the federation”, he said.
The ministries approved are ; Ministries of Security and Home Affairs; Justice; Agriculture and Natural Resources; Investment, Business Development, and Tourism; Education, Science and Technology; Environment, Mines, and Solid Minerals; Finance; Budget and Economic Planning; Rural Development and Cooperatives; Religious Affairs; Water Resources; Youths Empowerment and Skills Acquisition; Information; Local Governments and Community Development; Works and Transport; Ministry of Health; and that of Women, Children and Social Welfare.
