Katsina State Government has commenced recruitment of 177 Medical Doctors, Nurses and other auxiliary staff for its General Hospitals and other Health Institutions across the state.
The state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari made the known while receiving an independent report on some key sectors and infrastructures submitted by the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
He said the recruitment was in addition to another 139 teachers approved to be employed to replace part of the vacuum left by those retired. Governor Masari said the 139 teachers would be sourced from the existing teachers engaged under the S-Power scheme of the state government.
He stressed that, the state government would later recruit more teachers to make up the total number of youths on employment under the S-Power scheme considered for permanent employment in the state Civil Service.
He promised that, the state government would continue to employ within those engaged on S -power whenever there was need for replacement in the state Civil service.
Governor Aminu Masari appreciated the NANS for the independent assessment on government performance promised to study recommendations for necessary actions.
Speaking earlier, President of the NANS, Comrade Bamidele Daniel said the visit was to present to the state government their independent assessment on Security, Education, Health, Agriculture and infrastructural development.
Comrade Daniel said the Association discovered that, health sector of the state required additional man power and facilities to cope with challenges facing the health sector in the state.
