Medics specialised in eye care and treatment are to dispense free medical treatment including surgeries to persons with related eye challenges in Niger State as the world marks this year’s World Sight Day.
In commemoration of the day, the state’s Eye (Ophthalmic) Team is organizing a free eye screening and public enlightenment on Thursday, October, 24th 2019.
Leader of the team, Dr. Halima Isah told journalists in Minna that this year’s celebration whose theme is; ‘Vision First’, is aimed at making vision a priority in life by identifying with people with different types of ocular problems.
Dr. Halima Isah said the eye specialists will offer such services as diagnosis, treatment and give referrals on complicated cases of eyesight problems.
At the occasion, the eye specialists will give free drugs, run health education talks on eye care as well as do refractions and give out free reading spectacles.
She said the state Ophthalmic team which comprises of Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Ophthalmic Nurses, Opticians and Ophthalmic Attendants, have offered to mark this year’s celebration at the Government House, Minna to attend to the workers and their families.
The World Sight Day is a global event marked annually in the month of October by the Eye Care Team to promote good vision.
