The Acting Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, on Tuesday cautioned parents to provide moral support to their children rather than taken them to illegal correctional facilities.
Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, expressed this during the inspection of rescued persons from a purportedly correctional facility in Zaria, at the Kaduna State Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kaduna.
Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa, said the situation she found the children in the rehabilitation centre is a sad situation because most of these children who find themselves there don’t know the reason why they are there.
She stressed that, they were there to learn how to read, but it is a sad news that people can do these things to their fellow human beings.
The Deputy Governor, assured that, “All illegal correctional schools, the state government would continually get all the people that are involved, free all the inmates, but before they get into their families they would make sure that they are physically fit.
She appealed to parents to support their children, urging families to take up their responsibilities.
“I urge all, have value for your children. we need to talk to ourselves, these children are gifts from God, the collective responsibility as a community to correct our children is no more there, our role is to correct these children collectively.
The Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),, M.A Dusema, said the rehabilitation center was located in Zaria city where innocent children were chained and tortured.
He cautioned parents to resume on their roles towards protecting the lives of their children.
