Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) on October 14, 2019  trained its girl ambassadors on its girl education project of the Rise Up project, Public Health Institute of the John Hopkins University with support from the Cummins INC.
Speaking at the training, the project manager, Mr Benjamin Yunana Maigari made a presentation of the Rise Up project and the need for girls education, he said the project is advocating for the formulation and adoption and implementation framework for the free and compulsory education for girls in Kaduna State.
The project manager said in September 2018, the Kaduna State Government made a public pronouncement of free education for girls without a supporting document.
He told the girls that when the success story of the policy document will be written, they will be part of it.
He told the girls that the essence of the training was for the girls ambassadors to be part of the advocacy team.
Speaking on behalf of the girls Mary said given the girls free education will increase their retention in schools because she said parents give more attention to their male counterpart.
The girls were highly appreciative to the rise up project for given them a voice and promised to work with the project team to actualize the expected advocacy result.
