Determined to reform, restructure and improve revenue generation, Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd) has created additional area commands for administrative conveniences targeted at boosting revenue generation of the Service and effective management of land borders.
In a Letter addressed to the Chairman Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ), Kebbi State Council, signed by the service’s Public Relations Officer, N M Manga it reads, ” The new Command will henceforth be called and addressed as Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi Area Command, Birnin Kebbi.”
It added that Consequently, Kebbi state has been given full autonomy and became a full-fledged area command which before is under Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara area Command.”
The statement further stated that Comptroller E.A. Chukwuemeka has been posted as the pioneer area controller of the new command and has since assumed duty.
The PRO in the letter called on all working journalists and other relevant authorities to give the new command support and cooperation it deserve.
