Adhere To Development Building Codes, Kaduna SEMA Tells Citizens

The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), on Friday, appealed to all citizens to ensure adherence to development and building codes as required by the regulatory bodies in the state to prevent and mitigate the effect of hazards.

The Executive Secretary SEMA, Honourable Maimuna Tausabe Abubakar, expressed this in a press statement issued out on International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2019.

According to her, the theme of the year is in tandem with the transformative development of Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, especially on the recent urban renewal drive in the metropolis with expansion of urban cities and development.

She said, the newly established council on infrastructures attests to the quest of this government’s vision in establishing more basic amenities that are required by citizens across all local government areas for easy access and utilization.

The press statement said, International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction began in 1989, after a call by the United Nations general Assembly for a day to promote a global culture of risk awareness and disaster reduction.
