Governors all over the federation have been urged to resuscitate the livestock development program to serve as a components of the National Livestock Transformation Plan of the present administration.
The Managing Director of Crystalizer Big. Ltd, the producers of Crystalizer Fertilizer, Capt. Mohammed M. Musa (rtd), made this call while speaking to the New Nigerian Newspapers in Kaduna on Wednesday.
Capt. Musa said all Governors deserved to be forerunners in the implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) owing to the fact that they all have the requirements for the smooth and successful implementation of the plan.
According to him, almost all states particularly the northern parts have enough land, livestock and skilled manpower that could adequately and professionally handle the scheme for it’s success and sustainability.
He enumerated further that states in the north have s very favourable ecology that is suitable for the program, which he noted could serve as employment opportunity for the teeming unemployed youths.
The managing director advised that government should ensure the provision of trained professionals that could provide the required technical guidance for the successful implementation of the program.
Capt. Musa recalled that Zamfara State was one of the states that excelled in livestock trading in years past that led to the construction of a livestock rail transportation by the Federal government from Gusau to Lagos which really boost livestock trading.
He called on the northern state governors to resuscitate the livestock sector with a view to restore the vital trade link between northern states and the rest part of the federation.
The fertilizer producer said livestock subsector has a range of advantages that could help stem the tide of youth restfulness in the country.
