The Federal Polytechnic Damaturu has on Thursday, held its second combined convocation ceremony.
The convocation ceremony took place on the Federal Polytechnic play ground Damaturu.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed gratitude to the governing council of the Polytechnic to organized the second combined convocation ceremony and congratulated the graduands.
The Governor who was represented by the deputy governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana said education is the bedrock of any meaningful development, that’s why he declared state of emergency in the education sector especially in the primary and secondary schools in the state to improve the quality.
Governor Mai Mala Buni welcomed the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu and his entourage to the state and explained that, the presence of the minister shows his commitment of good service and provision of quality knowledge to the state, adding that with this excellent character, his appointment as minister by the President Muhammadu Buhari is deserved.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the minister to give special attention to the education sector especially in Yobe State.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the management of the institution for their cordial relationship with other institutions, adding that the gathering shows is a clear indication that there is a good relationship between the instruction and other institutions in the country.
The Governor congratulated the graduands and called on them to use the knowledge acquired from the institution for the development of the state and the country as a whole.
In his remarks, the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu who was represented by the Executive Secretary of National Board of Technical Education (NBTE), Mansur Kazaure congratulated the management of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu and the graduands for successfully hosting and graduation and assured commitment of the Federal Government towards providing infrastructure to the institutions across the country.
He equally expressed gratitude to the state government for supporting the Polytechnic.
The Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Usman M. Kallamu expressed gratitude for cordial relationship given to the institution by the state government and acknowledged the Council for playing their important role in the development of the institution and congratulated the graduands for their successful graduation.
He further urged the graduands to be good ambassadors in their future endeavours.
At the event, the management of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu conferred the honour of Fellowship to Pioneer Rector of the institution, Surveyor Sani Muhammad.
