Former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, on Tuesday commiserated with the leadership and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State over the demise of the pioneer chairman of the party, in the state, Chief Layi Ogunrinade.
Alhaji Akinbade in a condolence message to the party asked the Osun state PDP to immortalize the late politician for his pioneering efforts which put the party on a firmer footing.
The erstwhile SSG who succeeded Ogunrinade as the PDP Chairman in 2001, while condoling the family of the deceased extolled the virtues of late Ogunrinade.
According to Alhaji Akinbade, the foundation laid by late Chief Ogunrinade contributed largely to the success the party recorded at the 2003 polls which culminated in the party’s sweeping victory.
“Chief Ogunrinade’s political clout was too evident till he breathed his last. To this effect, his passage will no doubt, create a big vacuum. One of the best ways of keeping him in memory,is to immortalise him. He deserves it” he said.
While praying for the repose of the late Ogunrinade, Alhaji Akinbade urged members of the party to emulate his steadfastness and doggedness as a thoroughbred politician, statesman and community leader.
