The Nigerian government through its security forces has made tremendous efforts that have yielded results in containing violent criminality like kidnapping, Boko Haram and farmers/herders clashes.
Reviewing Officer/Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency, President Muhammad Buhari expressed this at the Commissioning and oath taking ceremony in honour of cadets of 66 regular course (NA) 67 Regular Course (NN & NAF ) and Short Service Course 45 (NA) at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), permanent site, Afaka, Kaduna on Saturday October 6, 2019.
“We have made significant progress in containing the threat of kidnapping, herder/farmer clashes,” he said.
He explained that despite the setback in security situation in the country things are improving.
“I’m here to assure you that the country is getting better by day,” he assured.
Represented by Minister of Defence, Gen Bashir Magashi (rtd), Buhari stressed that there has been a general success in the area of personnel and equipment.
“Many changes and transformation have taken place in our national and world at large. In particular, the area of peace, security and development and system stability at both local and global level has continued to be under threats.
“Our strategies to the threat of Boko Haram and other forms of insurgency is yielding positive results,” he said.
I must recognize the impressive role which the NDA has taken to produce highly trained military officers who are currently serving this great nation.
The President commended NDA for playing a pivotal role in ensuring peace and security of the country.
“I commend once again, the commandant, officers and staff of the academy for a job well-done despite the setback in security situation in this country. I’m here to assure you that the country is getting better by the day.
