The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has re-assured that his administration would continue to put things in place to improve the socio-economic development of the State for citizenry prosperity.
Governor Abiodun gave this assurance at a special thanksgiving service to commemorate the 59th National Day celebration of Nigeria, held at St. Peter Cathedral, Ake, Abeokuta.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the State helmsman said the distribution of interest- free loan, targeted at empowering the women, as well as other initiatives that would bring hope to the citizens would be intensified, noting that the health sector would receive more attention.
He added that hospitals and health care centres across the State would continue to undergo refurbishment, with provision of modern equipment for quality service delivery.
Earlier in his sermon, the Bishop of Ijebu South West Diocese, Rt. Rev. Babatunde Ogunbanwo, admonished citizens to be thankful in every situation, saying thanksgiving must be from the depth of one’s heart, as pride was a barrier to an acceptable thanksgiving.
While calling on Nigerians to eschew evil, enthrone righteousness and do away with selfish acts, Rt. Rev. Ogunbanwo noted that everyone would give account of their stewardship before God, advising politicians to rule with respect for humanity.
He urged the Governor, to be wary of praise singers and rule with righteousness, pointing out that a righteous government would be fair to all and not discriminate.
Special Prayers were offered for the President Muhammad Buhari, Governor Abiodun, Traditional Rulers and Political leaders, as well as the State in general.
Dignitaries at the service included: former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, Secretary to the State Government, Mr.Tokunbo Talabi, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Salisu Shuaib, Past and serving members of National and State Assemblies, Service Chiefs, Traditional Rulers, led by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, HRM, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, amongst others.
