The West African Students Union (WASU) has said that it honoured Comrade Mustapha Umar Tallo Gwarzo popularly known as ‘Coach’ for his untiring contributions towards the development of education and youth empowerment in his domain as a patriotic citizen.
This was disclosed by the award committee chairman, Comrade Abdulazeez Adamu Ibrahim in his speech at the award presentation ceremony held at Tip Top Park and Restaurant, Gwarzo.
He added that the association would continue to honour only competent personalities that prioritize education and youth development.
He assured that Comrade Mustapha’s assistance to the education sector would continue to be recognised especially at present when the government alone cannot cover everywhere unless there is a collective contribution from all well meaning citizens, congratulating the award recipient on his nomination and award presentation by the union.
In their separate remarks on the award presentation, the representative of a former deputy governor of Kano State, Honourable Murtala Tara and the representative of Managing Director, Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board, Honourable Danlami Bala Kayyu described Comrade Mustapha Umar Tallo as a good citizen who is committed to service to humanity.
Responding, the award recipient, Comrade Mustapha Umar Tallo Gwarzo said that the award came unexpectedly, assuring that it will continue to serve as an incentive to what he is doing on education and youth development at any place he finds himself.
He thanked the West African Students for honouring him among the prominent contributors across the West African region.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for inaugurating free and compulsory education at both primary and secondary levels which is a testimony that in a near future, Kano will become an exemplary state in the Northern region and Nigeria in general.
Gwarzo assured that he was ready to give more support to education and youth development in Kano State.
In conclusion, Comrade Mustapha Tallo tasked parents and guardians to support their kids in order to acquire sound and quality education in order to become good ambassadors for Nigeria as a nation, and called all wealthy citizens to give their helping hands to the education sector as seen in developed nations.
