About 100 Para -athletes are expected to feature in the 6th edition of the Skylak wheelchair road race coming up Saturday October 5, 2019 in Lagos.
The special para -power athletes from different parts of the country would do the marathon race being organised by Skylak Sports Club on National Stadium, Barracks, Ojuelegba and Empire, Lagos routes as they aim to promote healthy competition among special athletes and further confirm that there is ability in disability.
Ex Nigeria International Athlete who is secretary, planning committee of the wheelchair road race, Innocent Nwabunwanne confirmed that such sports loving groups like Avery Nigeria Ltd and J. Akin Insurance Brokers are fully behind them hence some interesting prizes would be won come October 5, 2019.
” We’re organising this championship in order to encourage healthy rivalry among ourselves as well as showcase our talents to Nigerians as we believe there is ability in disability.
“It’s equally important to state that we’re grateful to some corporate organisations who have shown interest n what we’re doing and we appeal to others to identify with us and make the event a huge success”, he stated.
Nwabunwanne, who was a Victoria, Canada 1994 Commonwealth games Wheel Chair Athlete expressed gratitude to the sponsors while appealing to other public spirited individuals and corporate groups to identify with Para Sports that have always done Nigeria proud in International Sports meets.
He concluded that registration that began at the National stadium one week ago would officially close on October 3, 2019, while urging those yet to register to do so now.
