An Abuja-based Estate developing firm, Nakachi Lauranti Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Akwa Ibom State Government for the development of a new housing Estate in Uyo, the state capital city.
The proposed Estate sits on 167 hectares of land, consisting of 555 service plots ranging from 1,700 square metres to 2,400 square metres.
Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Arc. Ime Ekpo signed the document on behalf of Akwa Ibom State Government, while the Executive Chairman of Nakachi Lauranti Limited, Arc. Arthur Abara signed for his company in Uyo on Friday.
Ekpo explained that the scope of work includes asphalt road network, Power sub-station and underground distribution network to every plot, water sub-station and reticulation to every plot.
Others include central gas plant and distribution network, sewage collection network from every plot and central treatment plant, and Fibre optic IT conduit network all connected to every plot.
The Commissioner urged the developer to keep to the contractual terms as Akwa Ibom state government would ensure the fulfillment of its own obligations as contained in the MOU.
According to him, the state government places high premium on quality accommodation of its citizens, hence, will not relent in her efforts to ensure that the project saw the light of the day.
Also at the meeting was the Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Raphael Bassey, who was also a signatory to the MOU charged the firm to live up to expectations.
Bassey said that Gov. Udom Emmanuel was passionate about the project with a view to making life meaningful to the people of the state.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of Nakachi Laurenti Limited, Arc. Arthur Abara assured Akwa Ibom Government of its capacity and readiness to deliver on schedule.
