Jigawa Water Board Decries Poor Funding, Manpower

Poor funding, coupled with shortage of man power development have been identified as contributing factors hindering the operations of the state water board.

The Acting Managing Director, Engineer Rayyanu Kazaure stated this while speaking to the New Nigerian in his office at Shuwarin. 
” What we are being allocated monthly as running cost was grossly inadequate to cater for our operational activities, stressing that constitute our inability in meeting up to our corporate responsibility”
Other constraints include inadequate operational facilities, shortage of man power development, adding despite the redeployment of some staffers of LGA’s, we still in deer need of staff, since we lacks professionals who lacks the technical know how on water service’s.
According to him, out of the 99 operators of the board, 86 of them are casual staffs with only three engineers arguing with these dearth of personnel we can’t run an efficient water agency that will serve the entire populace.
On water supply, Engineer Kazaure stated that despite their efforts in supplying 940,000 metric tonnes of water daily to urban city of Dutse metropolitan, the town needs thrice of that provision for its required demand.
He stated that preferably the cosmopolitan needs not more than thirteen million liters of water supply from the twenty six water schemes across Dutse metropolitan for water supply.
He announced the award of contracts by Jigawa State Government towards upgrading of water supply in major four water points in the state, in areas such as Yallawa, Takur, among other places.
Similarly he advocated for community participation to complement the agency’s personnel in their commitments towards rendering effective service delivery through monitoring, guard against vandalization and supervision of all water utilities in their surroundings.
