Ahead of November 30th, 2019 dateline for local councils’ election in Niger State, the state electoral body, Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, (NSIEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensure a level playing field for all and its readiness for the election.
Aminu Baba, the Chairman of the NSIEC said the electoral body was on it’s last lap of sensitization and awareness campaign to local government areas across the state.
He spoke on the successes of his tour to Agwara, Mariga, Magama and Kontagora council areas of the state where he urged stakeholders to support democratization efforts by participating in the councils’ election.
The commission had slated November 30th this year for councils’ election across the twenty five local government areas of the state where councils’ chairmanship and councillorship positions are opened for contest.
Aminu Baba however cautioned citizens, particularly youth, against allowing themselves to be used as cannon fodders to cause any disruption before and during the councils’ election.
He said adequate security would be in place for both election materials and personnel just as he warned that anyone who stands on the way of peace and order would not be spared.
The NSIEC Chairman revealed that the commission would use the permanent voters card during the conduct of the election just as he disclosed that accreditation of eligible persons and actual voting would be simultaneous during the election.
