The President of Ijesa Youth Forum (IYF), Comrade Owoborode Sunday Babatunde has expressed gratitude to dignitaries that graced their swearing in ceremony, describing them as leaders of high repute.
A statement which was co signed by the President, Comrade Owoborode Sunday Babatunde, General Secretary, Odeyemi Sunday Ezekiel and the PRO 2, Ajewole Hope Ayoade, described the ceremony as an historic event.
While thanking God for sparing their lives for witnessing the great occasion, they expressed gratitude to Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesa land, HIM Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Aromolaran II (CFRLLD), for supporting and accepting them at all times.
The statement reads, “it’s pertinent to appreciate our Royal Father, HRH High Chief Matthew Ogedengbe, the Obanla of Ijesa land and HRH Oba (Amb.) Adegboyega Christopher Ariyo, the Onibala of Ibala_Ijesa for gracing the occasion despite their busy schedules”.
They also commended the efforts of their convener, OmoOba Adekunle Ajayi, Mr. Agbaje Damilare and the immediate past Executive Led by Mr. Fashipe Opeyemi Isaac and most especially the inauguration Committee under the leadership of Rev. Oludotun Omokehinde EniOlorunda.
Those Officers that were sworn in with the President were Comrades Adeleye Adebusuyi Tobilola_ the Vice President, Odeyemi Sunday Ezekiel_ General Secretary, Olatunbosun Tolulolpe_Asistance General Secretary.
The list include, Comrades Abdusarafadeen Adegboyega_ Treasurer, Olusola Samson Obisesan_ Financial Secretary, Orabiyi Paul Babatunde_ Welfare Director Komolafe Iretidayo Ruth_ Director of Women Affairs, Ajewole Hope Ayoade_ P. R . O 2 and Obaleri Okikiade,Director of Mobilisation.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Owoborode promised that his administration shall derive her integral action plan from the present situation within the six Local governments of Ijesa land which includes Ilesa East and West, Atakumosa East and West, Obokun and Oriade local governments.
The President promised to embark on promotion of socio_cultural activities by exploring Empowerment coupled with Employment opportunities and proper accountability in their Temporary Secretariat.
His words, “these four points (among others) are defined as integral because the combination will foster development between the Youths in Ijesa land as we shall make our interest to reach out to dignitaries within our nation to help us”.
While commending those people that made their inauguration a reality, he promised to give the Youths a regular feed back from time to time in the course of their duty.
Earlier in his address, the outgoing President, Comrade Fadipe Opeyemi Isaac accused their forefathers of polarising Ijesa land by trashing the unity that was dominant amongst the people by creating unnecessary division of Ijesa North, Ijesa this and that.
He how ever gave kudos to the duo of Omooba Adekunle Ajayi and Agbaje Damilare for conceiving the idea of forming Ijesa National Youth Forum (INYF) which led to the registration with CAC as Ijesa Youth Forum (IYF).
He charged the new Executive to wake up to their responsibilities as new generation of Ijesa and do the needful by making the kingdom proud and imbibe positive change.
Meanwhile, OmoOba Adekunle noted that the Ijesa Forum is a non Political and cultural association of Youths in Ijesa land which was formed over ten years a go with considerable influence in the developmental scene.
He gave a brief history of IYF which he said was formed from a meeting held somewhere in the year 2014 with about ten persons in attendance at Springhills hotel along power line in Ilesa to establish unity among Ijesa Youths.
On the same day, he said, Mr. Bayo Ayeni , the former President of Rotary Club was appointed to act as the President of IYF with some other Executive members and on July 14, 2015, Mr. Fadipe Isaac Opeyemi was equally appointed to act as President of the Forum.
While congratulating the new Executive, he charged them to give an untiring Service to the course of IYF and make sure they keep fostering the peace and unity in the land.
Dignitaries present at the occasion were, HRH, High Chief Mathew Ogedengbe the Obanla of Ijesa land, HRH Oba (Amb.) Adegboyega Christopher Ariyo, the Onibala of Ibala and Prof. Fagbohun Francis Oluyemi of Dept of Local Government studies_ Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Also representatives of the five Honourable members in the state House of Assembly were present to Grace the occasion.
