Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, of Kaduna State, on Monday, assured the Kannywood, a land to build creative industries in the state to promote culture and tradition not only within Nigeria, but across Africa.
The Governor, made this known when he received members of the Kannywood United Front who came on courtesy visit to Government House, in Kaduna.
According to him, “We already have a plan to have a media city in Kaduna State.
“They have requested for a piece of land to build theatre and studio and we are going to grant them the peace of land.
“We also work with them to access the Central Bank of Nigeria and creative industry facilities so that they develop their structures.
“We believe strongly in the power of the creative industries not only to provide jobs and opportunities for our young people but to promote our culture and tradition not only within in Nigeria but across Africa.
“We will do whatever we can to encourage and support them”, he assured.
Leader of the delegation, Kannywood United Front, Dr Ahmed Mohammed Sarari, said they were in Government House to pay a visit to the Governor.
“We congratulate the Governor for his election success for the second tenure,” he said.
“We came to appreciate the Governor for the support he has been giving this association and to also request the Governor’s intervention in securing a land for the construction of a film village in Kaduna.
“To also plead for indulgence to intervene in the fund granted by the Central Bank of Nigeria for the creative industries, the conditions are too stringent for us, none of our members can afford to access it, we decided to come to the Governor of the people to intervene for us,” he added.
